JOPLIN - Fusion Frame Sculpture

Repurposed Antique Frame (early 1900s wood & gesso) unified with Juniper Tree Branch reclaimed from the Outback of Central Oregon.

Antique round frames are difficult to come by. It was fortune to discover this one at an antique store on the Oregon Coast. The pairing of the wily juniper branch was unexpected, but seamless. The frame was originally bright gold and the branch was weathered grey. Both have been transitioned to warm black, and the lichen on the branch preserved.

In Joplin, I see a wonderfully defiant free spirit — complete with pearls!
